The International History Bee and Bowl is planning on holding its inaugural Australian and New Zealand Championships in August or September 2017. We will post more information on the Championships on this page when we have that available and a date and host confirmed. Students who finish in the top half in the History Bee at any regional tournament in 2016 or 2017 will qualify; teams qualify in the Bowl by finishing with a .500 winning percentage or better (either overall or solely against teams in their division) in preliminary rounds, or by winning a playoff game in the History Bowl. Host schools can bring an extra team in the History Bowl for each tournament they’ve hosted in either 2016 or 2017 on top of those they qualify. Teams can apply for a wild card bid if no team has registered for their region by the end of June or if they average over 150 points in their preliminary matches.

Australian and New Zealand students and teams who compete in a regional tournament and finish in the top half of their division for the Bee or the Bowl will also qualify for the 2018 International History Olympiad (which does require qualifying along these lines).
