The International History Bee and Bowl (IHBB) are history-themed quiz tournaments (the Bee is for individual students; the Bowl is for teams) for students aged 11-18. Founded in 2010 in the USA, IHBB has since expanded to over 25 countries around the world, and established the International History Olympiad in 2015. Both the Bee and the Bowl feature a buzzer system (as on certain quiz shows) and comprehensive, paragraph-length questions that emphasize critical thinking and long-term knowledge of important topics on all fields, eras, and aspects of history. This approach encourages students to explore and study on their own, and also provides for a fast-paced, and enjoyable competition. At our Australian and New Zealand tournaments, approximately 10-15% of the questions will focus on the history and culture of Australia and New Zealand.
Our Australian and New Zealand Division began in the 2014 school year and features tournaments throughout both countries This website has been designed to provide all the information that teachers, students, and schools need to start competing.
